Man sentenced to 49 years for Femicide in PV
The individual was sentenced to prison term for the crimes committed in July 2024
After demonstrating his full responsibility for the crimes of femicide and attempted aggravated homicide with premeditation, advantage, and treachery, the Deputy Prosecutor's Office for Regional Investigations obtained a 49-year prison sentence against Rodrigo “N”.
The events occurred on July 15, 2024, in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood in the municipality of Puerto Vallarta.
The Public Prosecutor compiled an investigation file with scientific and testimonial evidence, which conclusively proved the defendant's direct and material authorship of the attack that took the life of a woman and the attempted homicide of a man.
According to the investigation, the assailant intercepted the woman and shot her twice with a firearm. The bullet struck her in the head, causing her immediate death.
After killing the woman because of her gender, the convicted man turned his attack on a man. Using the same firearm, Rodrigo “N” repeatedly attempted to shoot the second victim; however, the weapon did not fire, allowing the man to escape.
The court determined, in addition to a 49-year prison sentence, that the man should pay 293,426 pesos in damages, a fine of 53,199 pesos, and be responsible for providing compensation for psychological harm to the indirect victims.
With this resolution, the State Prosecutor's Office reaffirms its commitment to combating gender violence and ensuring justice for women in Jalisco, and to ensuring that no act of violence goes unpunished.
