Public Sector Activities On Jalisco Suspended on June 11th due to the World Cup Opening
The measure was announced by Governor during the opening of the Fan Festival in Guadalajara's Historic Center
The Governor of Jalisco reported that the suspension of public sector activities on June 11th aligns with the directive issued by the Federal Government and aims to reduce anticipated traffic disruptions that day, as well as facilitate public participation in tournament-related activities.
“I signed this decree a few minutes ago, and it will be published in the Official Gazette shortly. In accordance with the federal decree, it suspends all public sector activities in the State of Jalisco. This means there will be no classes; the bureaucracy in general will not be working. However, all services related to public safety, civil protection, and basic services will operate normally on June 11,” the governor shared.
Public transportation will operate as usual
Despite the suspension of work in government offices and public schools, public transportation will continue to operate normally throughout the state
According to the governor, both bus routes and the Urban Electric Train lines will maintain their regular service. Extended hours are also planned due to the events scheduled around the World Cup and the match to be played at Guadalajara Stadium.
“All public transportation, including the electric train lines and all public transportation routes, will operate as usual. This has two main reasons: to reduce traffic congestion in the city, to facilitate mobility, and second, to allow the children and teachers of Jalisco, with this day off, to enjoy the opening match of the Mexican National Soccer Team, which will be held in Mexico City at 1:00 p.m.,” explained the state governor.
The private sector will decide on suspending activities
The suspension announced by the State Government will apply only to the public sector, so private companies will independently decide whether to suspend or maintain their activities.
However, the governor called on commercial and industrial establishments located near the Guadalajara Stadium to consider giving their employees the day off and help reduce traffic in the area.
Furthermore, it was confirmed that both the Federal Judiciary and the State Judiciary will suspend activities on that date due to the proximity of their facilities to the World Cup venues.
Essential services will remain operational
Priority areas will continue operating normally on June 11.
Among the services that will not suspend operations, as mentioned, are public safety agencies, Civil Protection, as well as basic health and emergency services, in order to guarantee service to the public and the operation of strategic services.
