Jalisco Joins the Launch of ‘VigIA’, a Smart Mobile App to Prevent and Detect Child Sexual Abuse
The platform uses artificial intelligence to identify risk patterns in real time and send alerts to parents via mobile and electronic devices
In an effort by organized civil society through technological innovation, the Governor of Jalisco highlighted the launch of the mobile app “VigIA,” created by the Guadalajara-based civil association ILAS A.C. and the creative agency MADE Group.
At the presentation of the digital tool, held in Puerto Vallarta, it was explained that the app is designed to prevent, detect, and issue real-time alerts regarding potential situations of child sexual abuse, grooming, or violence against children and adolescents.
“I want to make it very clear: we will be extraordinarily strict against anyone who threatens our children. (…) I celebrate this great platform, VigIA, a platform that aims to protect them,” stated the Governor.
“VigIA” functions as an intelligent, active-listening monitor that analyzes children’s digital and physical environment using artificial intelligence configurable by parents.
Upon detecting pressure, manipulation, or inappropriate behavior, the system records, transcribes, and immediately sends an SMS notification to the administrator, parent, or guardian to prevent revictimization and generate irrefutable digital evidence of the incident.
Dafna Viniegra, Co-founder and President of ILAS A.C., Childhood Free of Sexual Abuse, and a child rights activist, stated that the application arose from the urgent need to shift from a reactive approach to one of prevention.
“We can no longer intervene only after the damage has already been done. We need to build a culture where protecting children is a shared responsibility,” said Dafna Viniegra.
“ILAS was born from a very deep thread in my life, but today that thread is no longer alone; it has been interwoven with many others. Today it weaves together wills, efforts, institutional alliances, families, businesses, and individuals who have decided to confront a wound that for years was hidden beneath fear, shame, and silence,” she added.
She indicated that the conversation must reach not only those they seek to protect today, but also those who seek to harm, abuse, and those who have hidden for years behind trust, kinship, or silence, permissiveness, and a lack of consequences.

The creators of the application explained that, in this first stage, it is launching to grow and improve with the support of society, because “VigIA” does not function alone, but with the support of families, society, private initiatives, and governments.
The aim is to create this network to protect children, to detect and make visible this problem, and to raise awareness so that parents or guardians take responsibility for addressing these situations.
