Repairs are ongoing for the main water line that supplies the northern part of the city 

More than 140 neighborhoods are experiencing water shortages; service is expected to be restored between Thursday and Friday

SEAPAL Vallarta reports that repair work is underway following the rupture of a 24-inch, 25-year-old pipeline belonging to the main line that carries water from the Radial Well to the Cerro del Machete Water Treatment Plant, an infrastructure that supplies the entire northern part of the municipality.

After detecting the incident on the morning of Tuesday, April 21, personnel from the Potable Water Distribution Department, along with directors led by the agency's director, immediately went to the affected area, located on a property near State Highway 544, in the Las Juntas district.

At the site, they are working intensively on the necessary maneuvers to repair the collapsed section, estimating completion by early Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, 143 neighborhoods and subdivisions, out of a total of approximately 350 in the city, are experiencing water shortages. The affected area encompasses a wide zone, including the hotel zone, the upper part of El Pitillal, the Las Juntas district, part of Ixtapa, as well as neighborhoods such as Versalles, Fluvial Vallarta, Aramara, Vallarta 500, Villas Río, and La Vena, among others.

it should be noted that the hotel industry was informed promptly and is already implementing measures to mitigate the impact. SEAPAL Vallarta estimates that the restoration of the drinking water supply will take place gradually between noon on Thursday, April 23, and the morning of Friday, April 24.

It is important to note that, as is typical in these types of emergencies, the higher elevations will be the last to have their service restored. The agency urges residents to use available water rationally during this period to ensure maximum use of the resource while the repair and restoration of service is completed.
