Tehuamixtle will hold its Oyster Festival on April 25th

Giant oysters from Tehuamixtle coast are known for their intense flavor and unparalleled freshness

The Oyster Festival in Tehuamixtle is a gastronomic and cultural experience that will bring together foodies, chefs, mixologists, and travelers eager to enjoy a delicious seafood dish on April 25th, in a festive atmosphere by the sea.

Tehuamixtle is renowned for the giant oysters from its coast, known for their intense flavor and unparalleled freshness.

The Oyster Festival showcases traditional preparations and creative offerings that make this mollusk the star of Costalegre's cuisine.

Guest chefs will reinterpret oyster recipes—raw with lemon, grilled, wood-fired, or in flavorful sauces. Meanwhile, local mixologists will offer cocktails made with raicilla (a type of agave spirit) that perfectly complement each bite. In addition, live music, culinary competitions, and community interaction make this festival a unique meeting point for families and travelers who want to discover the flavors of the Mexican Pacific in Tehuamixtle, Jalisco.

Gastronomy with Respect for the Ecosystem

One of the pillars of the Oyster Festival, in addition to promoting local cuisine, is respecting oyster harvesting bans, which are fundamental to guaranteeing the sustainability of marine populations in the region.

In Mexico, the temporary ban on harvesting rock oysters in Pacific waters is generally in effect from June 1st to August 31st, in order to protect their reproduction and ensure long, healthy life cycles for the resource.
