Coprisjal strengthens operation to regulate health service establishments

Operation includes reviewing health permits and applying administrative sanctions to those violating regulations

To protect the population and identify potential risks associated with treatments, supplies, and products lacking medical and scientific backing, the Jalisco Ministry of Health (SSJ), through the State Commission for Protection Against Health Risks (Coprisjal), is strengthening health inspections of establishments offering health services throughout the state.

The Health Regulation and Surveillance Operation began on April 16 with the dissemination of information about the actions, which are an ongoing task and are now being intensified.

The Jalisco Secretary of Health emphasized that this intensification is a response to the identification of establishments that sell "miracle" treatments and products, which are primarily promoted through social media without medical, scientific, or health support.

The actions include the ongoing review of permits, licenses, operating notices, and the operating conditions of establishments providing these services, such as clinics, hospitals, doctor's offices, and pharmacies, among others.

“There are places that offer ‘miracle’ products in clandestine operations. We want to repeatedly ask the public to help us by reporting these cases, which can, of course, be anonymous, so that the health authorities can respond promptly and take action, thus minimizing health risks,” the director stated.

Among the risky products are so-called “vitamin serums,” intravenous applications of purported stem cells, supplements, and preparations that promise benefits without any health approval and that can pose serious health risks.

To report to the health authority, Coprisjal provides the public with the telephone number: 33-3030-5700, extension 35211, with hours of operation from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as well as the email address denunciasanitaria.ssj@jalisco.gob.mx.
