Civic ceremony held to honor Miguel Hidalgo
The event was realized in 5 de Diciembre park, and was attended by civil & military authorities
With a civic ceremony led by civil and military authorities, Puerto Vallarta commemorated the birth of Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla (May 8, 1753), remembering his legacy as the initiator of Mexican Independence and a symbol of freedom and justice. The event was attended by representatives of the municipal government, the Mexican Army (Sedena), the Navy, the National Guard, and Civil Protection and Firefighters.

Following the honors and the raising of the flag, as well as the singing of the National Anthem, the folkloric group from the Adolfo Ruiz Cortines Telesecundaria School, in the El Colorado district, presented the traditional Machete Dance, filling this commemoration with color, tradition, and Mexican pride.
