Jalisco Achieves Historic Vaccination Coverage

More than 3.3 million doses administered strengthen the population's protection, overcoming backlog against measles

As part of an intensive strategy to catch up on pending vaccination schedules, the Government of Jalisco, through the Ministry of Health (SSJ), reports that the state has achieved historic vaccination coverage with the administration of more than 3.3 million doses against measles.

The Director General of Public Health of the SSJ acknowledged the commitment and participation of the people of Jalisco and thanked the healthcare personnel, especially the vaccinators, for their work, which made it possible to recover coverage and move toward greater community protection throughout the state.

“This progress represents a coordinated effort between health sector institutions, vaccination brigades, and partnerships with educational institutions and municipal governments, which allowed us to bring services closer to the people and vaccinate more than 3.3 million children, adolescents, and adults under 50 years of age across the state's 13 health regions,” he stated.

The strategy, which began last year following the health alert issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), includes intensive vaccination campaigns, fixed vaccination sites at health centers, extended hours and weekend operations, mobile units, community visits, and door-to-door outreach.

In addition, informational campaigns are being conducted to reinforce the importance of completing vaccination schedules.

“Now it is essential to maintain high vaccination coverage to prevent outbreaks and protect public health, so we urge the public to review their National Health Card and visit the nearest medical unit if they have any outstanding vaccinations,” he emphasized.

He reiterated that vaccines are safe, free, and the most effective tool for preventing communicable diseases.
