Municipal Government reinforces prevention culture with local drills

In a pre-drill exercise, a temporary shelter was activated under a tsunami scenario

In an effort to improve safety and citizen response protocols, the Municipal Government of Puerto Vallarta and the Municipal DIF System, through the Program for Attention to People in Emergency Situations (APCE), participated this Wednesday in a pre-drill exercise prior to the National Earthquake and Tsunami Drill to be held on May 6.

Under a tsunami alert scenario, evacuation procedures were activated at the Puerto Vallarta Naval Museum. The exercise consisted of the orderly transfer of civilians to the facilities of the “Alfonso Díaz Santos” Sports Complex, the designated location for activating the inter-institutional temporary shelter.

The coordinator of APCE emphasized that these types of drills optimize response times and ensure that, in a real emergency, personnel are trained to safeguard the well-being of Puerto Vallarta families.

The effectiveness of this exercise was the result of collaborative work and strategic communication among various agencies from all three levels of government that participated: the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA), the 12th Naval Zone, Jalisco Civil Protection and Fire Department, Puerto Vallarta Civil Protection and Fire Department, and the Vallarta DIF System (APCE Program).
