Business leaders agree on the urgency of the Water Intake Project

This is one of the most important initiatives to strengthen the drinking water supply in Puerto Vallarta

Business leaders from Puerto Vallarta, SEAPAL officials, and state authorities participated in a working meeting to promote the Water Intake Project, one of the most important initiatives to strengthen the drinking water supply in the municipality in the short, medium, and long term.

At the end of the meeting, attendees agreed on the urgent need to promote this project with the support of the Jalisco State Government to secure the required investment, as it will be fundamental to supporting the infrastructure development currently underway in the port city, such as the new Terminal 2 of the International Airport, the Amado Nervo Bridge, the Civil Hospital of the Coast, and the natural growth of the municipality.

The intake structure is part of a comprehensive hydraulic infrastructure project with an estimated investment of 900 million pesos and includes the construction of a diversion intake at the confluence of the Mascota and Ameca rivers, a project to be developed by the State Government.

According to the technical plan, the first phase seeks a joint investment between the Government of Jalisco and SEAPAL Vallarta to add 300 liters per second to the system, allowing it to meet projected demand until 2032. Subsequently, upon completion of the three phases of the project, up to 1,000 additional liters per second could be added, guaranteeing the supply of drinking water for Puerto Vallarta for the next 50 years.
