Jalisco to Open Measles Vaccination Sites to Protect Residents and Visitors During the World Cup

Visitors from other countries are encouraged to check and complete their vaccination schedule before traveling

In anticipation of the World Cup and as part of the strategy to protect public health, the Jalisco Ministry of Health (SSJ), through the Jalisco Health Services Agency (OPD Servicios de Salud Jalisco) and other institutions, will open vaccination sites in key locations and areas of high concentration throughout the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, ensuring the protection of residents and both national and international visitors.

These sites will offer free vaccinations included in the official schedule, including the measles vaccine, which is especially important in the current context of the epidemic. It is crucial to remain vigilant to contain the outbreak, even though the number of cases has decreased.

The Director General of Public Health for the Jalisco Ministry of Health (SSJ) emphasized the importance of local residents and tourists taking advantage of the opportunity to review and update their vaccination schedules.

“Measles knows no borders. Anyone who is not up-to-date on their vaccinations is at risk of infection, and this risk increases at large gatherings. Therefore, it is crucial to stress the importance of reviewing vaccination schedules before traveling and getting vaccinated if necessary. In any case, our teams will be ready to vaccinate anyone who requests it in the state,” he added.

He also specified that all vaccines included in the universal vaccination schedule will be available at the vaccination sites. Anyone wishing to be vaccinated against measles or another disease only needs to present their vaccination card to register the vaccination.

If they do not have their vaccination card, they will receive proof of vaccination that includes the vaccine name, batch number, and expiration date.

The Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) is also urging travelers, especially those coming from regions or countries with measles transmission, as well as residents of the state who have not completed their vaccination schedule.

It is important to take a few minutes to check your vaccination record, especially if you plan to attend large events.

The vaccination sites that will be operating from June 11 to 28 are as follows:

San Pedro Tlaquepaque Municipal Hall. 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
