Local Artistic Talent Highlights PV's Anniversary
Several shows were presented at the Malecón Arches and the Matamoros Lighthouse, offering something for everyone
With the sea as a backdrop and the sunset in full bloom, the Malecón Arches provided the setting for a day of cultural events that were part of the celebrations for Puerto Vallarta's anniversary, marking 108 years as a municipality and 58 as a city.
Dozens of families enjoyed a performance by the Cuauhtémoc Folkloric Ballet, whose members captivated the audience with their rhythm and choreography. Later, a group of 15 girls and young women from the VallArte Classical Ballet Studio presented a show that charmed children and teenagers alike, in a truly family-friendly performance.
“We want to showcase what’s happening in Vallarta and help promote the culture and way of life of Vallarta residents through art,” said Gabriel Casas, Director of the VallArte Ballet.
The cultural offerings of the Anniversary program also included a performance by the PV School Orchestra at the Matamoros Lighthouse.
Their rendition of John Lennon’s legendary song “Stand by Me” was one of the moments that generated the most connection between the orchestra members and the audience.
DJ Jovana Dávalos closed out Saturday’s events. “For me, this is about sharing culture. This program includes many types of artists, and in this way, we showcase local talent,” she stated.
The musical and cultural events for Puerto Vallarta’s Anniversary concluded in the early hours of Monday.
