Screwworm and ticks preventive measures reinforced in PV

Livestock farmers receive training to prevent sanitary risks and protect animal health

To prevent impacts on the livestock sector, the Municipal Government held a meeting at the Las Palmas Ejido House, in collaboration with the Local Livestock Association and state authorities, to strengthen preventive measures against screwworm and ticks.

During the meeting, information was provided on the importance of early detection and preventive measures against screwworm, a pest currently affecting various regions of the country, although no cases have been reported in the municipality to date. Tick control was also addressed, with a recommendation to livestock farmers to administer preventive dips at least every 22 days to reduce health risks.

As part of this preventative strategy, livestock farmers are invited to report any suspected screwworm cases to the following phone numbers: Agricultural Development, 322 114 0323; Livestock Association, 322 224 6433; or WhatsApp 55 3996 4462.
