La Desembocada Bridge inaugurated in PV after reconstruction
The strategic project was executed with high safety standards and using hydraulic concrete, ensuring durability and improving mobility throughout the region
The new La Desembocada Bridge, located on State Highway 544 in Puerto Vallarta, is now open. It was rebuilt in record time and under high safety standards.
This new infrastructure is strategic for the municipality, as it strengthens road connectivity in the Puerto Vallarta region. Its opening benefits communities in the northern rural area, as well as productive, agricultural, and tourism sectors in the Sierra Occidental.
With the bridge, built by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP), communication between Puerto Vallarta and San Sebastián del Oeste, Mascota, Tapalpa, Ameca, and the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area is restored.
The Governor of the state assured that, following the damage sustained by the previous infrastructure, the new bridge will provide greater safety, durability, and improved traffic flow for motorists traveling through the area.
“You will recall that this bridge in La Desembocada was demolished; well, today, after two and a half months, with an investment of approximately 74 million pesos, we are delivering a completely renovated, world-class structure,” he stated.
He added that the connectivity provided by this bridge is essential for economic, tourism, and social development.

Reconstruction work began on February 24, 2026, after the original structure suffered severe damage on February 22, 2020, as a result of events in the region, impacting connectivity between the coast and the mountains of Jalisco.
The project, overseen by the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP), consisted of installing 15 prestressed box girders, pouring the concrete road surface, and constructing sidewalks and parapets.
It also included horizontal and vertical signage, as well as the installation of new streetlights, resulting in a modern, safe, and functional infrastructure.
The new bridge has a 12-meter cross-section and a total length of 105 meters, constructed of hydraulic concrete, which improves road safety and ensures greater durability of the infrastructure.
It should be noted that, following damage to the original structure, the State Government immediately opened a temporary crossing to maintain traffic flow and minimize disruption to the population and economic activities in the region.
With the opening of this project, the commitment to continue promoting strategic infrastructure that strengthens regional connectivity, provides greater security to users, and contributes to the economic and social development of Puerto Vallarta and the entire Western Sierra Coast region of the state is reaffirmed.
