Pitillal River Transformed After Successful Mass Cleanup

Two tons of waste collected in just 2 kilometers

The combined efforts of citizens and authorities made the Great Cleanup Operation of the Pitillal River possible. Through the "Crusade for the Sea" initiative, nearly two kilometers of the river were cleaned, and two tons of waste were removed. Students and staff from various municipal departments participated in the cleanup.

These activities promote social awareness, since trash thrown in streets and streams ends up in rivers and, subsequently, in the sea. Therefore, citizens are urged to adopt responsible environmental habits.

During the cleanup, the main items collected were clothing, plastics, containers, and cardboard, as well as large items such as mattresses, tires, and appliance parts, highlighting the need to strengthen environmental awareness.
