Jalisco is the second state with the highest monthly formal job creation
From January to May 2026, Jalisco accumulated 24,211 formal jobs
Jalisco maintained its dynamism in formal job creation in May 2026, registering 5,290 new jobs, a result that placed it second nationally for that month, according to figures from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
Job creation in the formal sector contributes to the well-being of Jalisco families by providing access to health services, employment benefits, and greater economic stability.
In the year-to-date total, that is, from January to May of this year, Jalisco registered 24,211 new formal jobs, placing the state fifth nationally in this category. In the same period of 2025, the state registered 18,726 jobs.
“It is important to highlight that this is the fourth consecutive month of growth for Jalisco in formal job creation. From January to May, the state has registered almost 30 percent more jobs than were generated during the same period in 2015,” the Secretary of Economic Development emphasized.

Of the 21 states that registered an increase in employment during the first five months of the year, the jobs generated by Jalisco represent more than 7 percent of the total positions created during that period, reflecting the state's importance in generating employment opportunities nationwide.
These results demonstrate the strengthening of the state's economic conditions and competitiveness, as well as the confidence of companies to continue investing, growing, and creating job opportunities for the people of Jalisco.
The Government of Jalisco remains committed to promoting an economic policy that strengthens micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, encourages investment and creates the necessary conditions for the creation of formal jobs, working closely with the private sector.
