Half a Ton of Trash Removed from Coapinole Lagoon
Municipal Government and Civil Society Join Forces to Conserve the Ecosystem
In observance of World Environment Day, the Environmental Sustainability Department of the Puerto Vallarta government carried out a cleanup campaign at Coapinole Lagoon, a natural heritage site of the municipality.
During the activity, municipal solid waste was collected and materials that harm the ecosystem were removed. In total, approximately 500 kilograms of trash were extracted.
During the cleanup, a turtle was also found and rescued, and placed in a safe location.

The campaign included the participation of staff from Students Conserving Nature A.C., as well as volunteer citizens.
Authorities reiterated that conserving Coapinole Lagoon requires ongoing commitment: do not litter and respect wildlife. Any environmental risk can be reported by calling 322 688 2368.
