To ensure Vallarta families can honor their loved ones in dignified and safe spaces, the Municipal Government of Puerto Vallarta is preparing the city's five cemeteries ahead of the Day of the Dead celebrations.

Santos Aristóteles Mercado Orozco, Head of Cemeteries, reported that general cleaning efforts have been underway since August. These include removing deteriorated flowers and candles, collecting trash and debris, trimming trees, and clearing weeds across the 5 de Diciembre, El Progreso, Ramblases, Ixtapa, and Las Palmas cemeteries.

Participating in these efforts are Public Cleansing and the Department of Green and Lit Spaces—which is inspecting light fixtures and installing floodlights—along with the Directorate of Infrastructure and Public Works, which is improving nearby streets and internal pathways.

Additionally, the Vallarta Institute of Culture will create murals at the 5 de Diciembre cemetery to enhance the visual appeal of these spaces and preserve local traditions.

For the days with the highest attendance, the Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters, in coordination with Citizen Security, will deploy a preventive operation to handle emergencies and manage traffic and movement for visitors.

An estimated attendance of over 30,000 people is expected this November 1st and 2nd.
