PV Hosts Latin American Environmental Leaders at World Tree Cities Meeting
Authorities, specialists, and representatives from various countries will share experiences on urban forestry
Puerto Vallarta is hosting the international World Tree Cities meeting. The event brings together government representatives, specialists, and environmental organizations from Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean to exchange experiences on urban tree care and sustainable development. As part of the activities, awards will also be presented to cities that meet the program's standards.
Puerto Vallarta received the World Tree City recognition for the second consecutive year.
This achievement is the result of actions undertaken to strengthen the protection and conservation of the municipality's green spaces.
For her part, Gabriela López Damián, director of programs at “Reforestamos México,” noted that this program promotes public policies aimed at the proper management of urban forests, citizen participation, and the resilience of cities to the effects of climate change.

The forum “Urban Trees as Seeds of Resilience” will include representatives from cities in Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico, as well as specialists, academics, and international organizations.
The World Tree City distinction is awarded by the FAO and the Arbor Day Foundation. This year, “Reforestamos México” supported 44 cities in Mexico in their efforts to obtain the 2025 distinction.
